Music is and always has been an important component of ministry at Central Baptist Church. Currently, our senior choir sings well-loved hymns and songs in Morning Worship under the direction of Rev. Boyd L. Fox, choir director and organist. The senior choir meets for practice (and laughs) on Sundays directly after Morning Worship in the Blue Parlor at the back of the sanctuary. Anyone with a love of music is encouraged to join.
CBC is also home to some musically gifted members who share their gifts with God and us through flute, violin, and voice. In addition, CBC is blessed to have a magnificent pipe organ installed by The Reuter Organ Company in 1971.
The organ boasts 1675 pipes, 30 ranks, and several chimes and fills our sanctuary with the music of both beloved, traditional hymns and more contemporary choral pieces. The works of great musical masters both of sacred hymnody and composers of beloved Western musical pieces spanning centuries come alive when Rev. Fox plays the organ on Sundays and special services.
