Annual Church Theme: “Being the Church of Hope and Courage”

Our annual church theme, “Being the Church of Hope and Courage,” is derived from the theme of the American Baptist Home Mission Societies’ 2023 Discipleship and Christian Education Guide.

The ABHMS theme is inspired by Revelation 2:29, “Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.”

The challenge and invitation for the church this new year is to listen to what the Holy Spirit is saying to us and to follow the Spirit’s lead in proclaiming the Good News amid the pain and brokenness of our world.

What is the church going to be in a world that has suffered so much due to the Covid-19 pandemic, poverty, war, the alarming increase of violence in our cities and towns, environmental and mental health crises, the divisive political climate that has plagued our country and countries around the world?

Here at Central Baptist Church, I invite you to join me to actively listen to God’s Spirit and work together in response to God’s call to be the Church of Hope and Courage in 2023 and beyond.
