Serving As The Hands and Feet of Christ

"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me -- watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."

Words of Jesus in Matthew 11:28-30, THE MESSAGE BIBLE (Eugene Peterson)

Central Baptist Church was established on October 19, 1896 by members who were formerly affiliated with the First Baptist Church of North Broad Street in Woodbury. The church evolved out of the South Side Baptist School started on June 30, 1889 by a group of mothers who wanted a Sunday School on the South side of the Woodbury Creek Bridge for their children to attend in safety. Continuing from early in its history, Central Baptist Church in Woodbury has been “A Church that Cares”, with a strong commitment to learning about Jesus Christ and serving others in His name through its local and world-wide missions projects which are central to the life of the church community. Since 2013, Central Baptist Church has welcomed the Boys and Girls Club, Woodbury Center to meet in the second floor of the church building. In addition, the Woodbury Garden Club and Woodbury High School students use the building for their meetings and service learning opportunities. In 2015, the church hosted the first annual "Meet and Greet with Woodbury Police Department" in July. It was attended by over 50 residents in our church's neighborhood, including young people from BGC Woodbury Center. By God's grace, CBC continues to strive to be the "hands and feet of Jesus" and share the good news of God's love in Woodbury and beyond.
